IMPRESSIVE DYNAMO CRUISE TO LFL DALTON CUP SUCCESS
DUBLIN DYNAMO.....4 DALKEY UNITED....1
DUBLIN DYNAMO cruised to a deserved success in the Leinster Football League Seamus Dalton Cup final at Home Farm Grounds in Whitehall on Sunday.
The trophy named after one of football's great gentleman of yesteryear and a head salesman with O'Neills Sports saw Dynamo retain the cup following last year's penalty shootout success over Jobstown Celtic.
The victory was also a real lift for the Ukrainian community in Dublin whose country is still suffering hugely as a result of Russia's invasion 14 months ago. Dynamo had a bumper support to cheer them on with Whitehall decked out in Ukrainian flags among their fans with the players kitted out in the colours of their embattled nation.
The final was also a poignant day as the club sported tee-shirts of their team mate Denis who is still in hospital as a result of an accidental head collision while playing for the club last October against Park Orient in the Phoenix Park.
In Sunday's final Dublin Dynamo took early control with a goal from Vitalii Chernyshev after just six minutes of play and doubled their lead through Ion Ungureanu in the 14th minute.
An Alex Gutu penalty in the 25th minute saw Dublin Dynamo take a firm grip on the game and that was the lead they took into the interval.
Opponents Dalkey United played a big part in the occasion and were competitive and managed to reduce the arrears in the 70th minute, but a fourth from Roman Da in the 84th minute saw Dublin Dynamo ease to a deserved cup success.
The game was well contested and an excellent showpiece for the Leinster Football League who continue to show that the standard within the league is excellent and Dublin Dynamo proving to be a great ambassador for the progressive LFL and the Whitehall venue a fitting stadium to host one of their prestige finals.
