TEMPLEOGUE UNITED NAMED AFL CLUB OF THE YEAR FOR 2022
TEMPLEOGUE UNITED were named AFL Club of The Year at the 67th hosting of the event which was held at Bluebell United’s clubhouse at Red Cow on Saturday.
Templeogue United claimed the fabled Amateur Cup, the Matt O’Leary Cup and were defeated finalists in the LFA Over 35 Cup final, falling to Sandyhill Shangan in the decider.
A healthy attendance also saw Gary Leeper named AFL Referee of the Year while four of the league’s long serving executive - Paul Lenehan, Jim Morley, Dermot Murphy and John Whelan were recognised for their many years of service as they retired from duties.
Incoming chairman is Malahide man Gary O’Toole who will add to his duties as Assistant Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Registrar.
With the formal retirement of the quartet, league secretary Peter Connolly appealed to clubs who ight have personnel willing to join the AFL Executive, to make contact with him if they fancy a career as a legislator.
