NORTHERN REGIONAL COLLEGE-COLERAINE 1
ATU SLIGO ‘B’ 2
The ATU Sligo B side captured the Colleges FAI Challenge Cup with a 2-1 defeat of Northern Regional College Coleraine in the decider at Athlone Town Stadium.
Both Sligo goals arrived in the second half after the opening 45 minutes proved to be a cagy affair,
Luke McConnell with a speculative 25-yard effort that went in off both uprights early on the resumption fired Sligo into the lead.
Less than ten minutes later the Northern boys were back on terms with a Rian Gorman towering header beating the goalkeeper.
The game was decided six minutes from time when Cian Kilcoyne struck home a penalty past Coleraine ‘keeper Thomas McNabb.
