South Leinster Primary 5s Finals see two schools from each County qualify

Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford all enjoyed success at the FAI Primary School 5s South Leinster Finals which took place in Bunclody AFC on Thursday (May 4) as they each had two schools winning top spot.
The six section winners will now advance to the provincial stages next Wednesday, May 10 in the MDL Grounds, Navan, Meath.
The ‘A’ Cup, open to boys and/or mixed teams from small schools, saw Hacketstown NS, Carlow advance while Curracloe NS, Wexford were gallant runners up on the day.
The ‘B’ Cup for medium schools saw Scoil Mhuire Horeswood, Wexford captured gold as Ballinabranna NS from Carlow came second.
The large schools category, the ‘C’ Cup saw St. Kevin’s NS, Greystones, Wicklow as the gold medalists following a comprehensive performance. Carlow’s Bennekerry NS picked up silver.
The Girls only section saw the small schools, Girls ‘A’ Cup produce some exciting games with Clongeen NS, Wexford winning out. The runners up were Wicklow side Scoil Naomh Bríd.
The medium schools in the Girls ‘B’ Cup was more equally posed with Carlow’s Ballon NS advancing. Blackwater NS, Wexford picked up second spot on the day.
The Girls ‘C’ Cup for large schools had St. Laurence NS, Wicklow as winners with a brilliant display from the crew. The runners up were named as Gaelscoil Carlow.
The Leinster Finals will see winners from Mid, South and North Leinster as well as Dublin looking to secure their place in the National Finals which is set to take place in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Wednesday, May 31.
