MCR hit five to sink Carbury in Frank Kennedy Cup

In the Frank Kennedy Memorial Cup played at Hazelwood on Saturday night Calry Bohs

hosted St Johns FC Cian Oates fired Bohs into an early lead netting in the 1 st minute. St Johns

now showing more composure levelled on 18 minutes with a goal from Malachy Spratt and

the sides went in 1-1 at the break.

The second half was nine minutes old when Conor Healy pounced to strike a superb goal that

was in the end the deciding goal and given them a Quarter Final at home against Strand

Celtic.

The Clash of the Titans was at Sean Fallon Park Cranmore Road Sligo, with Super League

Champions MCR at home to league runners up Carbury FC. This was supposed to be a cliff-hanger

and it started that way, Jordan Harte given the Champions the lead on 18 minutes and Rian

Gorman equalised for Carbury on 30 minutes this left the sides level at the break.

The second half was however a one street 65minutes 2-1 to MCR Donagh Crowne, 68

minutes Ryan Mc Manus, 74 minutes Jordan Harte again on 80 minutes goal number 5 for

The Glasshouse Cup seen Ballymote Celtic entertain Calry Bohs Reserves at Brother

Walfrid Park The home side carried all the fire power with Zac O Dowd netting twice, Aaron

Healy, Michael Flannery, and super sub showing he still has it Mark Irwin Calry Bohs

Reserved scored once with a brilliant finish from Billy Mc Carthy.

Benbulben FC won by the odd goal in three at Forthill a superb hat trick from Oisin

Gilmartin claiming victory despite a double from Jake Drew. Benbulben through to the next

round and Stars await the playoffs and are well capable with a full squad of being in the

Super League next season.

In the semi-finals of the Connacht Cup Strand Celtic lost 1 -0 to Athenry

Ivor Parkes Painters & Decorators U17 Boys Cup Final

Strand Celtic A 1 St Johns FC 2

This Ivor Parkes U17 Cup was a showcase for the exception talent now emerging in the

underage game. Both sides relished the top-class facilities at Mac Sharry and the game started

at a high tempo and both sides maintained a fast-attacking end to end final. St Johns took the

leads on 33 minutes when Michael Saxa hit first goal from 18 yards given Strands net minder

no chance so half time St Johns 1-0. Strand piled on the pressure and were rewarded on 63

minutes with leading scorer Conor Mulligan levelling matters. Celebrations were short lived

however when minutes later Michael Saxa crashed home goal number 2 and what proved in

the end to be the decisive goal that brought the silverware home to St Johns FC. This was a

final of a very high calibre both sides were impeccably turned out the goals scored at both

ends were all killer goals given neither keeper any hope of saving them. The sides were a

credit to their clubs, families, and the league with only one yellow card in the whole game.

This was community Football at its best with commiserations to Strand Celtic A and a

Massive Congratulation's to the U17 Ivor Parkes Cup Final St Johns FC Carraroe

CHAMPIONS.

Merville Utd lifted the Ivor Parkes Paint and Decorators U17 Boys Shield Final tonight at Mac

Sharry Park by an 8 - 0 nil score line against Coolaney Utd.

This was a one side game but despite the result Coolaney put up a massive battle the big difference was the fire power in the Merville

Arsenal. Daniel Gillen 3 goals Cillian O Neill 2 goals and 1 goal each Cian Nicholson Paul Mc

Ateer and Cathal Kelly been the difference. Both sides were a credit to their respective clubs,

Mangers, Coaches, families, and Sponsors which augers well for next Season. Congratulation's

To Merville Utd 22/23 Ivor Parkes U17 and to a gallant Coolaney Utd on their Display.

The Final Action of the Underage Competitions in League, Cup and Shield came to a final close

this evening at Mac Sharry Park. The Rugantinos U18 Boys Shield was up for grabs with Boyle

Celtic taking on the might of St Johns who had the previous evening lifted the Cup.

Boyle Started the game at a very high tempo while defending solidly at the back. It was nip and tuck all the

until the stroke of half time when Captain of Boyle Celtic fired home the opening goal of the

game. The second seen St Johns in attack mode but Boyle never gave an inch as the game

progressed St Johns seem to drop a gear perhaps from quiet a few players playing the night before

but on 70 minutes Boyle pounced with Mark Haligan rattling the back of the St Johns net 2-0

Boyle and on the stroke of full time the Boys in Black never looked back as Barry Cryan crashed

in the Killer goal for a superb victory totally well deserved.

The team were impeccably turned out as was St Johns and were a credit o the league, there clubs, families. managers and coaches. Make no mistake this was a cracking game worthy of any final, St Johns were buzzing but, on the night,

they found that Boyle Celtic had the bigger sting in the tail. In the absence of Antonio and

Martina from Rugantinos due to previous commitments Fr Pat Leonard PP St Annes kindly did

the presentations to both teams and match officials, of course being a Boyle Man, it probably

gave him that extra bit of joy. Boyle Celtic U18 Rugantinos Shield Champions 22/23
