Beautiful day at The Meadows. It was warm and the sun was shining brightly. The game started well for Anne's with Dilin Kecy and Oisin Kelly scoring within 5 minutes. It seemed like it was all over for St. Patrick's Boys at that stage. Through pure determination and grit Pat's got into the game scoring first through Danny Serofin and then twice through the on-fire Kathryn Timmons.
St. Anne's came out the second half a different team and scored 3 great goals first by Lee Dempsey, and then Roan and Logan Brennan. It was a great team performance from both teams. Final score 3-5 to St Annes.

Vale Wanderers AFC 0, New Oak Boys AFC 6
Saturday 5 November 2022 Superbowl Leighlinbridge (Vale Wanderers)
A battling first half from Vale saw New Oak leading by a solitary goal which gave the home side heart for the second half, but despite battling performances from Sean Foley & Brendan Byrne in midfield, the game ran away from the home side
. A lovely passing move saw Shaun Sibanda played in on goal but he pulled his shot agonizingly wide of the far post and the chance for an equalizer was gone. Vale struggled to string passes together and New Oak made their possession count, grabbing another two goals in quick succession.
With the match at 0-3, an injury to Sean Foley saw a reshuffle in the Vale midfield but they lost their shape and conceded 3 more without reply. Final score 0-6 to New Oak Boys.
Vale will look back at the first 40 minutes of the match and try to build on that moving forward.
Best for Vale were Brendan Byrne, Seán Foley, Shaun Sibanda and Joey Drea.
Best for New Oak were Kayden Dargan, Dara Tunstead, Joshua Walsh and Noah Duffy.
Scorers for New Oak: Keelan Brennan, Daniel Custerson, Oisin Rice and Jamie McCormack.

Burrin Celtic AFC 2, Crettyard United AFC 2
Saturday 5 November 2022 The Valley Ballon (Burrin Celtic)
In a game largely dominated by Burrin Celtic, Crettyard scored after 10 minutes with their midfield player picking up the ball from a kick out and slotting it into the Burrin goal to put the visitors 1-0 up. Burrin had a number of chances after that and pressed the away side well but failed to score and the first half ended 1-0 to Crettyard.
Burrin came out fighting in the second half. Ryan Abbey equalised 7 minutes into the second half with a well taken header. Burrin kept their dominance up when Tadhg Campbell scored to make it 2-1. Both teams had chances but could not put them away. Shane McCaffrey played very well in goal for Burrin and stopped a few one on ones.
Burrin got through on goal a number of times but it wasn't their day in front of goal. Crettyard scored their equaliser through a counter attack that caught Burrin napping. Final score 2-2.
Best for Burrin were Colm Donald, Tadhg Campbell and Bill Roberts.
Under 13 League Division 1 2022/23
Hanover Harps AFC 2, Parkville United AFC 1,
Kick off between Hanover Harps AFC and Parkville United AFC was bathed in very welcome Autumn sunshine following a very wet week. Parkville United were the best team in the first half of the game dominating in all areas of the field. The visiting side had a couple of very good chances in the half to put a score on the board with an excellent volley hitting the back of the Hanover Harps net only to be ruled off-side.
However, it was Hanover Harps who scored first following a penalty scored by Andrian Robu after Nathaniel Jakubiec was fouled in the box. Parkvillle United continued to play very well and the team was rewarded with a goal just before the end of the half to bring the game level at 1-1.
After a lacklustre start from the home team, Hanover Harps went up a gear or two in the second half, fighting hard to take points away from the encounter. Like Parkville United in the first half the home-side had many scoring opportunities and were more comfortable on the ball.
Owen Fitzharris finally broke the deadlock scoring from a well-judged cross in from Cian Howard on the right wing. A few more scoring opportunities were missed with the best chance of a third goal just skipping over the top of the goal following a header from Owen Fitzharris.
Hanover Harps were lucky to come away with the win following a great display of football by Parkville United. Final score Hanover 2 Parkville 1.
Best for Parkville United on the day were Bobby Cullen, Paidi Connolly and Thomas Doran.
Players who stood out for Hanover were Nathan Walsh, Masfie Islam and Cian Howard.
Under 13 League Division Two 2022/23
Vale Wanderers AFC 1, Killeshin AFC 1
Saturday 5 Nov Superbowl Leighlinbridge (Vale Wanderers)
An entertaining match saw the teams share the points but Vale will feel they let 2 points slip away. The sun was out for this 11:15am kick off and both sides were trying to play football the way it should be played.
Vale took a few minutes to get going and could have already been behind but for a smart save from Luke Honeyball, but they then settled into the game and had the better of the half.
The best move of the half resulted in a goal in the final minute of the 1st half coming from an excellent left-footed finish from Bill Hayden after some terrific passing in the build-up.
Romeo Sithibe looked like he was on a mission to score but just couldn't create a clear opportunity for himself. It was 1-0 to Vale at half-time but Killeshin were still very much in the game.
A couple of changes at half-time for Vale saw Josh Dermody drop into defence as cover for his injured brother Zach - both lads having put in good performances in the 1st half. Vale looked the more likely to score still but they were starting to over-play and Killeshin were gaining more possession and won a number of corners. Honeyball produced another two outstanding saves, the latter resulting in a corner in the final minute. Unfortunately for the home side, the corner wasn't dealt with and was driven into the goal from close range and the final whistle blew at the resulting kick-off, giving a result of 1-1.
Vale scorer: Bill Hayden
Best for Vale were Luke Honeyball, Josh Dermody, Breda Rochford & Ethan Chambers.
Killeshin goal scorer: Jonny Mc Grath
Best for Killeshin were Irshad Mohammad, Lucasz Smolarak, Rian Holden
Under 13 League Division Two 2022/23
New Oak Boys AFC 1, Hanover Harps AFC 2
Saturday 5 November 2022 Burrin Rd Carlow (New Oak Boys)
CDJL – Match of the Week 05/11/2022
U13 League Division Two
New Oak Boys AFC 1 – 2 Hanover Harps AFC
Referee Luke Nolan.
On a bright sunny morning, New Oak entertained Hanover Harps and despite heavy overnight rain – the pitch was in good ‘nick’.
It was a slow start for both teams, but Hanover Harps were the first to show their attacking intentions, with Tire Adeleye, Rhys Walker and Alex Broderick, all prominent.
Kieran Holbrook – New Oak’s keeper had to be quick off his line to deal with a number of through balls and his best save came when Hanover’s Joe McDermott made a good run and cross and it was well handled by Holbrook.
A good move by Hanover that was instigated by David Dutu and Rhys Walker put Tire Adeleye through on New Oak’s goal, but he shot well wide.
Rhys Walker played a ball right across the area, but there was no Hanover player to convert what was a great opportunity, but the chance went abegging.
A long through ball from out of the Hanover defence saw two Hanover attackers bearing down on New Oak’s goal, but Kieran Holbrook, in attempting to clear his lines, completely missed his kick but AJ Bolger was there to clear the ball at the expense of a corner and prevent Hanover taking the lead, with the corner coming to nought.
New Oak were starting to see more of the ball, in terms of possession and Michael Myk picked up a loose ball but he shot wide from the edge of the penalty area.
Then a good cross from the right just before half - time was diverted into his own net by AJ Bolger for Hanover to take a 0-1 lead into the interval.
A free – kick taken by New Oak hit the side netting and then Hanover’s Ross Geoghan went on a mazy run and shot from six yards but once again Kieran Holbrook was there to make another save.
A cross from the left found Ross Geoghan unmarked six yards out and he calmly volleyed home to give Hanover a deserved 0 – 2 lead.
This further setback seemed to inspire New Oak and they upped their game and put together a number of attacking moves and from one of these, a cross from the right was latched on to the ball by Michael Myk and he slipped the ball into the corner of the net to make the score 1 – 2 and all to play for.
As the game entered its final stages – there was a period of midfield stalemate as both sides were battling for the next crucial goal – which would mean a win for Hanover Harps and a draw for New Oak, but it wasn’t to be and Hanover took all three points.
Standing out for New Oak were Kieran Holbrook, Hugh Collins and Fionn Brophy, whilst best for Hanover Harps were Rhys Walker, Cian Dolan, Alex Broderick and Tire Adeleye.
The overall Player of the Match was Rhys Walker.

St Patrick's Boys AFC 5, Nurney Villa AFC 0
Saturday 5 November 2022 The Meadows Graiguecullen (St Pats Boys)
The game started well for both teams as they both were having good possession spells in trying to break the deadlock. On 15 mins it was St Pats who took the lead when a corner was taken quickly to Cathal Farrell who passed to Evans Azeta who smashed a shot from 25 yards into the top corner to make it 1-0 to the home side. Nurney were always looking dangerous and pressed hard for an equaliser but just on the stroke of half time St Pat’s Jamal Adegoke hit a fine effort from just inside the box to make it 2-0.
Second half saw both teams create chances with both defences working very hard. St Pats went 3-0 when Ryan Doody set Cathal Farrell up to score another from a long-range shot. Credit to Nurney they never gave up and had a great chance to score when Eli Fleming hit the post with a great effort. St Pats pushed further ahead when Eric Mihala scored a fine goal after being introduced at half time. Domis Janusas was a thorn in Nurney Villas side down the right wing and was rewarded with a fine goal from inside the box to make the final score 5-0.
Best for the home team were Ricky Matthews, Ryan Doody & Rian Cahill.
Best for Nurney were Eli Fleming, Patrick Dermody & Christopher Salmon.

Parkville United AFC 1, St Joseph's AFC 2
Saturday 5 November 2022 Hawkins Lane Tullow (Parkville United)
St Josephs started the better team with a lot of possession around the midfield. Their possession nearly paid off in the 15min when good play down Parkville’s left flank resulted in them shooting inches wide. That woke Parkville up and for the remainder of the half it was all Parkville with chances coming from Joe Smithers, Ryan Jennings and Oliwia Zaborniak going close. H/T 0-0
The second half continued with Parkville dominating the ball and putting more pressure on St Joseph’s backline. Some good play from Parkville’s Cody Doyle set up Joe Smithers to shoot and forced St Josephs keeper to make a good save, resulting in a corner. Ryan Jennings crossed it in to find Dara Murphy who buried the ball in the goal to put the home side 1-0 up.
St Josephs started to pass the ball well after this and with some good play down their right found Alex Reid who rifled a shot home to make it 1-1. St Josephs were on top then and with some scrappy play from the home side St Josephs were awarded a free kick. Dan Keogh took the free and from long range scored to make it 2-1 and that is how it finished.
Best for the home side were Odhran Byrne,Cody Doyle Denis Fitzgerald and Dara Murphy..

St Fiacc's AFC 2, Vale Wanderers AFC 3
Saturday 5 November 2022 St Patricks College via George bernard shaw
The game started with both teams sizing each other up for the first 10 mins. Vale took the lead through Moya O Toole on 13 mins and 5 mins later Vale took advantage of a slip in the Fiaccs backline to make it 2 nil. St Fiaccs immediately responded after some good work from Mia Branagan which led to Leah Nelson pulling a goal back. Vale tried to extend their lead with 2 good chances for Kate Burke before half time.
The second half started evenly again but Fiaccs started to take control and almost scored through Ashlee Smith but Amy Farrell denied her. Fiaccs kept piling on the pressure and got a deserved equalizer through Leah Nelson after some great team play with Ashlee Smith and Ella Maguire involved. However with 2 mins remaining Kate Burke scored the winning goal to give Vale all 3 points in what was a very well contested match in tough conditions.
Best for St Fiaccs were Mia Branagan, Orla Keating and Hannah Matthews
While best for Vale were Emma de Lacy, Roisin Collins and Colette O’Brien.
