LFL U21B - MALAHIDE UNITED V BELMONT FC - PICTURE ALBUM
TWO GOALS from centre-forward Sam Quinlan sealed the points for top of the table Malahide United as they overcame the challenge of southside Belmont FC in this afternoon’s Under 21B clash at Robswall.
In bright sunshine and a light breeze, the leaders could even spurn an early penalty but Quinlan, who showed excellent awareness throughout, proved the difference for the Ian Reilly managed home side and a brilliant piece of dribbling finished off by an angled shot to the net gave the Gannon Park side the lead after 32 minutes.
Then as the half came to a close, excellent work down the left flank by Nathan Reilly saw him turn provider for Quinlan to drill home from the middle of the goal to seal the points.
With a defeat to Park Celtic their only loss and a draw with Lakelands, Malahide have notched six wins in the campaign to date and will have a big say in the destination of league honours in this competitive division.
The match was excellently refereed by Paddy Hughes - a recent recipient of a Life Membership award from the Dublin Branch of the Irish Soccer Referees Society.
