Burrin Celtic AFC     1,    v    St Patrick’s Boys AFC     4,

Saturday 11 March 2023 The Valley, Ballon (Burrin Celtic)

Celtic entertained Pats in Ballon on Saturday afternoon. Celtic started strong and took the lead with a fine strike from Ed O Byrne.

Celtic should have scored a few more goals when creating a number of chances they later regretted as Pats looking dangerous on the break grew into the game and scored twice before the break. H/T score Burrin 1-2 St Pats.

In the second half Pats played some nice football scoring twice with a stunning strike in particular from Mark Buggy. F/T score Burrin 1-4 St Pats.

Pats fully deserving the win in the end.

U15 League Division Two 2022/23

Parkville United AFC     4,    v    Slaney Rovers AFC     4,

Saturday 11 March 2023 Hawkins Lane,Tullow (Parkville United)

On a miserable morning in Tullow Parkville and Slaney served up a cracking match to brighten up the morning for all present. The first 10 minutes were very even with both teams looking to play their way into the match. Parkville took the lead on 12 mins when Zack Harvey go on the end of a Danny Brennan corner to finish into the roof of the net. Three minutes later it was 2-0 to Parkville. After some nice passing through the midfield Danny Brennan smashed a shot from outside the box onto the Slaney cross bar. It looked like the chance had gone but Dylan Walker claimed the rebound and rolled it back to the oncoming Josh Fitzpatrick who found the top corner from 20 yards. The game played out very even for the next 15minutes until Craig Burgess found the Parkville net with the fine long distance free kick to halve the deficit to 2-1. Shortly after Parkville regained their 2-goal advantage when Dylan Walker got on the end of a Danny Brennan free to make it 3-1. That wasn't the end of the first half scoring with Sean Barrett getting on the end of a Craig Burgess free to make it 3-2 at half time.

Slaney Rovers came out of the blocks very quickly in the second half and soon had the game back level at 3-3 with a goal from Jack Corcoran. Not long after with Slaney having the momentum behind them took the lead 3-4 with a fine finish from Kyle Byrne. Parkville went pressing for the equalizer and all thought they had it when Tawananyasha Mudawapi sprinted goalward and hit what looked like an unstoppable shot towards the right hand corner of the goal. Peter Lawlor in the Slaney goals make an unbelievable save which brought applause from both sets of supporters. It looked like Slaney were going to hold on for all 3 points until Joe Waters got on the end of a cross from Tawananyasha Mudawapi to level the game t 4-4 with 10 minutes to go. Both teams looked for the winner but in the end the draw was a fair result. Game finished 4-4.

St Patrick’s Boys AFC     2,    v    New Oak Boys AFC     2,

Saturday 11 March 2023 The Meadows, Griguecullen (StPats Boys)

This was a game played under cold but sunny condition on St. Patrick's Boys AFC Astro. This was a game that both sides had to win with St. Pat's having been victorious. Both teams started well with St. Pat's creating some great chances. St. Pat's scored 1st through Sam Tinoco. H/T 1-0 to Pats.

Despite the early lead St. Pat's found themselves down 1-2 in the second half through a well worked goal and a defensive error.  With what seemed like minutes to go Alex Donnelly Finn scored the equaliser.

U15 League Division Two 2022/23

 Vale Wanderers AFC     0,    v    St Anne’s AFC     1,

Saturday 11 March 2023 The Superbowl, Leighlinbridge (Vale Wanderers)

Unbeaten St Anne's kept that record intact when completing the double over Vale in a game that cements their position at the top of the division. The home side needing victory to remain in contention found a rearguard hard to break down with Andrew Knowles in goal in fine form time and again while AJ Dooley at the other end with a fine save likewise. Halftime coming with 0-0 the outcome, the home team not making their territorial advantage count.

The second half was of a similar nature, the first to score going to be vital. When it came midway through the half it was from the boot of Oisin Kelly who found himself in space outside the box and via the crossbar gave St Anne's the lead. Try as they may Jack Murphy and Fionn Forde going agonizingly close to an equalizer. Odhran Murphy had a shot cleared off the line also as St Anne's defended like the unbeaten team they are, to see out the game with a final scoreline reading of Vale 0-1 St Anne’s.

Best for Vale were Jack Donoghue, Jack Murphy and Eanna Coady.

While the visitors had Anhrew Knowles, Roan Brennan and Max O Connor in fine form.

Saturday 11 March 2023 The Superbowl, Leighlinbridge (Vale Wanderers)

This was a quick game from the first whistle with both teams giving their all. The two teams exchanged chances in the opening 15 mins, and a strong run the length of the pitch and an effective cross resulted in Baltinglass taking the lead. Soon after, the ball broke on the edge of the Vale box with an excellent long range finish left goal keeper Ryan Kearney with no chance to stop it. 0-2 at half time

Although it was 0-2 at half time it was still all to play for, but Baltinglass came out firing after the break and another goal after the break and a converted penalty put them out of sight. Heads dropped in the Vale side and the closing stages meant Baltinglass finished convincing 0-5 winners.

Saturday 11 March 2023 The Valley, Ballon (Burrin Celtic)

Joe Keating scored his first goal of the season and Burrin’s second shortly after with a powerful strike into the corner. Burrin continued to press high and force mistakes, with Bobby Finn then putting Burrin 3-0 up. Hanover caught Burrin’s high line too high and scored from a ball over the top to make it 3-1. The home side continued to impress from here, and Bill Roberts got his second goal to make it 4-1 when he chipped the keeper from far out. New Oak Boys AFC     2,    v    Crettyard United AFC     0,

Saturday 11 March 2023 Burrin Road, Carlow (New Oak Boys)

New Oak dominated this encounter against a strong Crettyard side on a difficult surface on the Burrin Road. New Oak started strong with plenty of possession counting for nothing until the 10th minute. A brilliant left footed cross from a corner by Keelan Brennan was met superbly by the head of Daniel Custerson to make it 1-0 to the hosts. The pressure was maintained by New Oak until half time but it could have been so different on the scoreline when Crettyard were adjudged to be offside for a quick attack but the right call was made. H/T score 1-0 to the home side.

The second half started in the same vein as the first but with Crettard having whatever wind advantage there was. A number of long-range shots were well held by New Oaks goalkeeper Nigel Coughlan to help New Oak control the game. Throughout the second half, there were a number of crunching tackles made by both sides but all within the spirit of the game. And with 54 mins gone, New Oak’s Cormac Lowry sent in a delightful free from the left hand side and Siobhan Sinnott was on hand to coolly side foot the ball home to make it 2-0 and that's how it ended.

Best for New Oak were Nigel Coughlan, Joshua Walsh, Keelan Brennan and Daniel Custerson.

Best for a battling Cretty side were goalkeeper Aaron Brennan, Dara Brennan and Michael Brennan.
