Hanover Harps AFC 3, v Bagenalstown AFC 1,
Saturday 18 March 2023 The Plots, (Hanover Harps)
Hanover maintained their unbeaten home record after a good win against Bagenalstown in
The Plots on Saturday morning. The home team started brightly and had a couple of half
chances before forcing a number of corners. From a Sam McHugh delivery,Eoin Ryan rose
highest to head home at the back post to give Hanover the lead after ten minutes.
Bagenalstown grew into the game and got their passing going to ask questions of the home
defence. From one attack the ball was played wide and the resulting cross carried all the way
to the top corner to draw the sides level. In difficult conditions the game was to and fro
before a good Hanover move saw a great Dermot Lawlor cross glanced home from the head
of Aaron Cunningham Burke. Half time 2-1 to the home team.
The second half continued to be well contested with both keepers being called into action.
The next goal was to prove vital and Sam McHugh got it for Hanover, carrying the ball past
several challenges before finishing from an acute angle. Final score Hanover 3-1
Bagenalstown.
A hard fought win for Hanover who had Dermot Lawlor, Bailee Cooney, Daire Byrne and
Leon Fitzgerald in top form.
Bagenalstown had good performances from Jason Dillon, Ian Craddock, James Cushen and

New Oak Boys AFC 1, v Hanover Harps AFC 1,
Saturday 18 March 2023 Burrin Road, Carlow (New Oak Boys)
A huge crowd descended down the Burrin Road today to watch the U14 League decider
between New Oak FC and Hanover Harps. The crowd weren't disappointed as the game lived
up to the hype. Both teams have played brilliant football all year which set up this game
perfectly. From the first whistle New Oak showed great intensity and had the better of the
opening exchanges. Kyle Kinsella's blistering pace saw him get behind the Hanover defense,
his cross caused panic and when the ball finally broke to Cormac Murphy outside the box, he
struck the ball clean and it looked a certain goal but for an unbelievable save from Hanover
keeper Peter Breen Parle. Hanover grew into the game with Alex Mazur having a major
influence with his driving runs. The game was end-to-end, great battles in midfield between
Darragh Casey and Axel O'Rock. New Oak's pace up front with Kiegan Lawlor and Kyle
Kinsella kept the Hanover defenders on their toes. Chances were few and far between until
near the end of the first half when an Axel O'Rock free kick struck the crossbar and the
rebound was cleared to safety. 0-0 at half time.
The second half continued with the same intensity. The New Oak defense of Jamie Doody,
Cian Hyland, Daniel Nolan and Siobhain Sinnott were put under pressure by the excellent
Timmy Adeleye who always carries a threat. Cormac Murphy and Kaylem Geoghegan
battled hard in midfield and began to play more through balls. It was a moment of class that
led to the first goal, when Keelan Brennan controlled a difficult ball with a great touch and
played a through ball for Kiegan Lawlor who sprinted onto the pass and smashed the ball into
the far corner of the net. This sparked jubilant scenes on the side lines as fans and players
celebrated the goal. 1-0 New Oak. Hanover players showed great determination and never
dropped their heads, both Adam Haughney and Ronan Dooley encouraged their team back
into the game. Hanover always looked dangerous from set pieces especially from the
deliveries of Charlie McHugh and Brian Louw. Hanover got back into the game when a long
throw caused chaos in the New Oak penalty area, a looping ball was expertly finished by the
brilliant Timmy Adeleye. 1-1 scoreline. Both teams battled hard, some great challenges from
Cormac Lowry kept Hanover from breaking through midfield. Cormac Murphy began to
influence the game more in the second half and it was his through ball that set up Kyle
Kinsella who crashed his shot off the post. There was one last chance for Hanover when a
speculative ball fell for Timmy Adeleye, which looked a certain goal but for a match winning
save from the New Oak keeper Cathal Kennedy, a huge moment in the game. Both teams
battled to the end until the Ref blew the final whistle. The point saw New Oak crowned U14
Champions. The celebrations were fantastic and the final act was New Oak Captain Darragh
Casey holding the League trophy aloft. Both teams had a great season and they will have
many more battles in the future, both teams are a credit to the CDJL.
Final score New Oak 1-1 Hanover
Best for Hanover Alex Mazur, Ronan Dooley, Axel O'Rock

Saturday 18 March 2023 Scats Hawkins Lane, Tullow (Parkville United)
Parkville hosted Nurney this morning in a league match-up. It was Nurney who took
advantage early on with a great strike by Kian Michin to put his side 1-0 up. After things
settled Parkville started to grow into the game and found their goal through Adrian Plonka
after great work down the right from Tawana. Almost immediately Parkville got the ball out
the right again and after a great delivery from Tawana Adrian found himself in a great
position to slot home a 2nd for him and Parkville.
Parkville were on top for large amounts of the game but couldn't take their chances and after
some sloppy defending Nurney took their opportunity to make it 2-2 scored by Conal
Dermody. Once again Parkville responded through Tawana when he worked the ball
brilliantly down the left flank and scooped the ball over the keeper’s head which topped off a
man of the match display for him on the day. Parkville finally made the pressure count and
Adrian Plonka secured his hat trick topping off a clinical display on the day. Final score was
Parkville 4-2 Nurney.

Hanover Harps AFC 3, v St Joseph’s AFC 1,
Saturday 18 March 2023 The Plots (Hanover Harps)
Hanover Harps met St Josephs on a wet and windy morning in The Plots for a great game of
soccer. Both teams starting strong and wanting the points, it was Hanover however who got
the first goal with a spectacular effort from Andrian Robu. Josephs came straight back on the
attack, getting awarded a penalty that they made sure to put in the back of the net with a
brilliant strike from Niall Egan. With everything to play for it was game on. Hanover came
back in the 28th minute with a cracking shot from Nathan Walsh. And not 2 minutes later
another shot came from Hanover’s Nacho Montesinos. Half time score 3-1.
With the weather conditions not on either team’s side, it panned out a very quiet second half.

to Hanover.

0 at the break.
Hanover began on the front foot and caught the New Oak defence out with a simple tap in for
