Parkville United AFC 3, Vale Wanderers AFC 2,

Monday 24 April 2023 Hawkins Lane, Tullow (Parkville United)

Parkville entertained Vale and from the start they had great chances to take the lead with

shots just going wide from Ryan Jennings and Max O Donoghue.

Parkville continued to ictate the game with another chance just going over the bar from Jordie Coughlan. In the 15 th min and against the run of play Vale broke from midfield and Rhys O Toole made it 1-0

to the away side. Parkville went to another gear and Dara Murphy found Oran Alcock in the

15 th min to fire home the equaliser. Parkville continued to attack with Jennings hitting the

crossbar and Donoghue going close with the rebound. In the 22min Bradley Stynes went

route one with his kick out and Oran Alcock rounded the Vale goalie and passed to Max

O’Donoghue to calmly slot it home to make it 2-1 at H/T.

home by Bill Hayden to make it 3-2.

defended like their lives depended on it. F/T score Parkville 3-2 Vale.

Under 16 Girls League 2022/23

Vale Wanderers AFC 1, St Fiaccs AFC 1,

Monday 24 April 2023 Hawkins Lane, Tullow (Parkville United)

This evening saw the top two teams in the girls U16 league go head-to-head in the

Super Bowl. Going into the game Vale just needed a point to clinch the league and St

Fiaccs needed the win to keep their hopes alive.

The game started very tense with some nerves on view. St Fiaccs started very well and

played some nice football. Vale gradually grew into the game and after some nice

passing Kate Burke broke free and, one on one with the keeper, slotted home to give

Vale the lead. The rest of the 1st half was very even but St Fiaccs showed some

determination and got a deserved equalizer when Ashlee Smith drove the ball home.

Score at half time Vale 1-1 St Ficcs.

The 2nd half was a very tense affair. Vale showed a lot more composure and were

pushing for the winner. With 20 minutes left Kate Burke broke feee again and looked like

she was going to get her second only for her shot to rattle the post. St Fiaccs had their

chances and played some really good football, especially down the right wing.

With 10 minutes left, Vale had a corner with captain Moya O’ Toole nearly wrapping up

the points, with a deft header which came back off the post, to the dismay of the Vale

supporters. The last 10 minutes were nerve racking for both teams and St Fiaccs never

gave up and pushed Vale hard. On the final whistle the Vale line erupted with relief as

the draw secured the league title for the Vale girls. Final score Vale Wanderers 1-1 St

Fiaccs.

It was an immense effort from both teams and they are a credit to the game!

Best for St Fiaccs were Orla Keating, Leah Nelson and Ashlee Smith.

Best for Vale were the whole team who gave absolutely everything, remaining unbeaten

throughout the entire league campaign and are deserving champions.

Under 16 League 2022/23

Hanover Harps AFC 2, St Patrick’s Boys AFC Red 1,

Tuesday 25 April 2023 The Plots (Hanover Harps)

Hanover went top of the table with two games to play after their second win in a week over

St Pat's Red in The Plots on Tuesday evening. The home team started brightly and the first

twenty minutes was played in the St Pats half of the pitch. The away team defended well

and finally began to launch a few attacks. From one break they were awarded a free kick,

the ball was lifted over the home defence and Brian Santos finished at the back post.

Hanover were stunned for a few minutes but got themselves back on top but a combination

of good defending and wayward finishing saw it remain 0-1 at the break.

The second half continued in the same vein with St Pat's dangerous on the break and

Hanover struggling to break through. The equaliser came from a corner when good

movement saw Eoin Ryan rise and glance a header into the bottom corner. As the intensity

rose it looked like the game was heading for a draw, especially after a Sam McHugh goal

was ruled out for offside. In the final minute Hanover got the win they deserved when a

great ball over the full back saw Aaron Cunningham Burke beat the onrushing keeper with a

brave header to silence the away supporters and take the 3 points. Full-time score Hanover

2-1 St Pats.

For Hanover Leon Fitzgerald, Sean Hayden, Dermot Lawlor and Lander Fernandes were

outstanding.

Good team performance from St Pats.

Under 13 League Division 2 2022/23

Vale Wanderers AFC 0, St Joseph’s AFC 2,

Wednesday 26 April 2023 Superbowl Leighlinbridge (Vale Wanderers)

The curtain came down on Vale's Div2 team's league season with a 0-2 home defeat. Seán

McNally and Alex Reid grabbed the all-important goals for a determined St Joseph's side.

Vale had a number of opportunities to grab a goal or two themselves but the final ball or

finish let them down. Luke Honeyball made a number of saves in the Vale goal while the

Joey's keeper and defence combined to keep out Bill Hayden, Frankie Doyle, Romeo Sithibe

and Conor Ryan.

A good Vale performance was spearheaded by the efforts of Josh Dermody and Ethan

Chambers and a backline of Emily Hennessy, Rhys O'Toole and Zach Dermody who were all

playing together for the first time.

St Josephs gave a very good team performance with Michael Breen in a starring role.

Girls Under 14 Cup 2022/23

New Oak AFC 0, Burrin Celtic AFC 1,

Thursday 27 April 2023 Burrin Road (New Oak)

Good game between these two sides. End to end football which saw the game finish

scoreless at half time.

The second half started brightly and after ten minutes Burrin broke through the New Oak

defence and Eimear Bolger found the back of the net with a fantastic strike. New Oak piled

on the pressure but the Burrin defence held out which saw the game end 0-1 to Burrin.

Fantastic display of football from all the Burrin & New Oak girls. And a great amount of

respect for both sets of girls for each other.

Looking forward to next season.

with Podge Brennan on the follow up from a long range shot. Final score St Pats 2-0 Parkville.

Parkville hosted Nurney in the last 16 league Cup tie on Saturday morning. It was Parkville

who started the stronger of the two and opened the scoring through Phoenix Mullins with a

well hit free kick. Nurney did well to stay in the game for long periods but it was Parkville

who continued to add the pressure and were 2 up when Tomas Doran hit a great strike from

outside the box over the keepers head and into the goal. Adrian Plonka continued his fine

form in front of goal and added a 3rd for Parkville. The pick of the goals came at the end of

the half with great passing and finished off by Wiktor Politowski 4-0 at half time.

Under 14 Cup 2022/23

St Patrick’s Boys AFC 0, Hanover Harps AFC Green 5,

Saturday 29 April 2023 The Meadows, Graiguecullen (St Pat’s Boys)

Hanover Harps travelled to The Meadows to play St Pats in this u14 cup game. Both teams

would have fancied their chances before the game. Hanover hit the ground running in this

game and took the lead after only 5 mins on the clock. Credit to St Pats they were finding

some space on the left wing when Leon Doyle came very close to making it 1-1. Hanover

soon doubled their lead and went in 2-0 at the break.

St Pats were on the attack after the break but could not convert their chances. Hanover

completely dominated from here on in and went on to score a further three second half

goals. They were by far the better team and played some decent football.

Best for St Pats were Leon Doyle, Daragh McEvoy, Thomas Lawler & Ryan Doody.

Under 16 Cup 2022/23

Hanover Harps AFC 5, Crettyard United AFC 0,

Saturday 29 April 2023 The Plots (Hanover Harps)

Hanover advanced to the next round of the cup after a win against a very understrength

Crettyard in The Plots on Saturday morning. The home team opened the scoring with a

lofted finish from TJ Brennan. The game was very even through the first half in very warm

sunshine. Half time 1-0 to the home team.

The next goal was important and Daire Byrne got it for Hanover with a good finish. Crettyard

tired in the heat and the lack of numbers told as first Leon Fitzgerald and then Aaron

Cunningham Burke with two goals, one a strike from distance saw the home team through.

Final score was a 3-0 win for Hanover.

Thanks to the Hanover Under 15 lads for stepping up.

A good team performance from a young Crettyard side.

Under 16 Cup 2022/23

St Patrick’s Boys AFC Red 4, Bagenalstown AFC 0,

Saturday 29 April 2023 The Meadows, Graiguecullen (St Pats Boys)

On a day with ideal conditions for football, the home side started very brightly and forced

an early save in the first minute. With the home side continuing to press the early pressure

was rewarded on 8 minutes. A neatly worked corner kick between Jayden Kelly and Chris

Morabane, with Kelly sprinting into the box and driving the ball across goal for a tap in by

Kacper Zarzycki. The away side battled on however all the play was coming from the home

side and they could count themselves unfortunate not to add to their score before the end

of the half. Score at half-time Pats 1-0 Bagenalstown.

The second half followed in much the same pattern as the first with the home side pressing

on. On 46 minutes Zarzycki was on hand again to finish into the net. He completed his

hattrick with a brilliant individual goal ten minutes from time. There was time to add to the

scoreline before fulltime with another goal of high quality, with Jan Flejszar finishing low to

the keepers left. Final score Pats 4-0 Bagenalstown.

The home side move on to the next round of the competition and were full value in doing

so.

A very exciting game played out in the McGrath Park, a credit to both groups of players who

were both playing other competitions throughout the weekend but still managed to play a

great game. The home team took the lead in the first half from a well worked free kick ended

with a fine finish from Jake Slavatecki. H/T Bagenalstown 1-0 St Annes.

Into the second half and both teams missed some good chances before St Annes got their

equaliser from a corner. The game ended 1-1 so extra time was needed. Both teams continued

to press hard but the game was decided when Ben Kelly got through the St Annes defence

and finished spectacularly into the top corner. Final score (aet) Bagenalstown 2-1 St Annes.
